Rumor : iPhone coming to Canada, for $799 via Rogers

Apple’s iPhoneWell here’s again a new rumor. There’s a rumor that Apple’s iPhone is finally coming to Canada by mid-October 2007, probably in next couple of weeks.

The rumor is from a inside source at Holt Renfrew that the luxury retailer will have the iPhone in about two weeks.

Moreover Apple’s iPhone is coming to Canada via Rogers Wireless network and many Canadian people say that Rogers are scam. This is the first turnoff for Canadian people.

Slashphone says :

Unless you’re Canadian, you likely don’t know about the scam that is Rogers. If you’re a residential customer you have three options for internet browsing. You can opt not to get a monthly plan and pay $.05 per KB, you can pay $5 for 5MB per month or $10 for 10MB per month. Each of the monthly plans has an additional data rate of $.03 per KB. Once again, that’s just ridiculous. However, when there’s no competition in the market, people can get away charging whatever they want.

Second turnoff : Also the iPhone will cost US $799 in Canada! So it is very bad for Canadians. I think they are better off without the iPhone because you can’t pay that much for iPhone which has some major drawbacks. People in Canada will have to pay about double of what people in US pay for the iPhone. I do think that the price of iPhone is going to reduce in about 30-45 days after releasing in Canada due to the high price.

Apple and Rogers are not telling anything about this rumor. They are very tight-lipped about this rumor.

We’ll keep you updated about this rumor. Cya! :D
