Spore to Come Out in April 2008

This article might be many months early, but for those who haven’t heard about the new computer game that Maxis is coming out with, I hope to give you a good idea as to what to expect from this much-anticipated game.

Spore is a God Game in which you control the evolution of a creature, from it’s very beginning as a small organism, to ‘evolving’ and attaining the ability to walk on land. A new phase begins from there, consisting of basic survival, until enough points are gained for your creature to evolve even more and form a small tribe. The elements of evolution are all there for the taking, as Spore certainly isn’t done quite yet! After a time, the tribe will become a city, with your power extended to the point of being able to create buildings and decide whether to make war or peace with surrounding cities. As if that weren’t enough, there is a Space Age also, obtained when the player is able to create a UFO. This phase is the most impressive of them all, with the player the ability to leave their planet and head towards an endless amount of worlds, where again, you can decide on what you want to do, whether it is to make new life on a barren planet, or blow up entire cities! The possibilities are endless, and Spore truly revolutionizes the God Game genre in providing a unique approach to the game that players are sure to find entertaining.

The numerous possibilities this game can offer make it rather appealing, but the powerful editors used throughout Spore have to be acknowledged as well. While in the first two phases of the game, the player is able to edit their creature’s appearance according to how many ‘DNA’ points they have gained. It is through these points that you can add and alter your creature’s body parts to make it unique and different. Here’s an example of a creature the Spore Game Team have made.

Once you start to get into the Civilization stage, no longer will you be able to control your creature’s evolution. Rather, you will be in charge of creating the look of your buildings, as well as various vehicles that your population will use.

It’s amazing just what this game is going to offer when it comes out. Hopefully this Article has given you a quick overview over Spore and what to look forward to in the months to come. In either case, I will readily say that I can’t wait to buy the game when it comes out. With so many endless possibilities, Spore is sure to be quite the experience for gamers of all shapes and kinds.
